Volunteer work As of 8/1/11 Michael Abegg, former First Mate of the South Streeet Seaport schooner Lettie G Howard, is supervising our volunteer program. Shipwork will occur on Saturdays. We request that shipwork volunteers chip in at least four hours on a weekend volunteer day. Weekday help always welcome!
Due to port security regulations, we need you to RSVP so we can give your name to port security. You also need to show a photo ID at the containerport gate. RSVP to portsidenewyork[at]gmail.com. Enter Red Hook Marine Terminal gate at Hamilton Avenue, Summit Street and Van Brunt Street. Directions Due to tightened Homeland Security regulations, e.g. the TWIC card, it has become hard to schedule volunteer days. Therefore, we particularly welcome volunteers who are willing to commit to a regular schedule and get a TWIC card. We will pay for your TWIC cards if you commit to a regular and frequent schedule.
